"I don't reference back to last year": Seminoles HC makes honest admission about chip on his shoulder amid reports of FSU leaving ACC

The Florida State Seminoles have been in the news this college football offseason for a variety of reasons. But finally, they have some news in regards to their on-the-field product.

The Seminoles are gearing up for the 2024 college football season as they look to win their second consecutive conference championship and make the College Football Playoff.

During an appearance on the Always College Football podcast with Greg McElroy, Seminoles coach Mike Norvell claimed that the team does not reflect on the 2023 season. Instead, he said, they are focused on the present.

"I don't reference back to last year, it's not something that I do. We have a chip and an edge just because it's an opportunity to go win and improve and that's what we do here at Florida State. Anyone that was part of last year's team, we lived the experience."

The Florida State Seminoles won the 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship with an undefeated 13-0 record. But they failed to make the four-team College Football Playoff.

They were the first and only team in the College Football Playoff format to go undefeated and win a Power Five conference title without making the CFP.

What should people expect out of the 2024 Florida State Seminoles?

Despite winning the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship last season and going undefeated, things are a bit different in Tallahassee this year.

Their starting quarterback, Jordan Travis, declared for the NFL Draft and is no longer with the program. To replace him, they were able to get DJ Uiagalelei to transfer to the program.

Despite losing their signal caller, the Seminoles are still listed as the betting favorite to win the conference with +270 odds. This team has a relatively simple schedule and should be in contention to make the ACC Championship Game for the second consecutive year.

Expect the Seminoles to be a legitimate threat for a top-four seed in the expanded College Football Playoff.
