The Indiana Hoosiers are on the road to play the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at noon ET. The game can be watched on FOX.
Indiana (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten) is coming off its open week. Meanwhile, Ohio State (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) is coming off a 31–7 win over Northwestern.
Indiana vs Ohio State: Preview
The Hoosiers are a 13-point underdog while the over/under is set at 52 points.
Indiana is undefeated, but the Hoosiers' schedule has been very easy as this is the first ranked team they will play. It's a good test to see if Indiana is a playoff team because if the Hoosiers get blown out by three-plus scores, they perhaps miss the playoffs.
Indiana is coming off its open week and beat Michigan 20–15 in a lackluster win before that. The Hoosiers have a chance to prove they are a legit national championship contender, which excites coach Curt Cignetti.
“Excited about this week’s opportunity against Ohio State. Obviously, an excellent football team, one of the favorites to win the national championship, a lot of great players, extremely well-coached and their tradition speaks for itself,” Cignetti said, via Yardbarker. “It’s a big game for us because it’s this game coming up. We treat them all alike.
If there was a better way to prepare for a certain team, we would do that for every team. We have to stack moments, meetings, practices and days to give ourselves the best chance to be successful on Saturday. I’m confident in our team that we will prep well this week, play well, play with poise and play our game. Excited about the opportunity.”
Indiana is led by Kurtis Rourke who has thrown for 2,410 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. Justice Ellison has rushed for 686 yards and nine touchdowns, and Elijah Saratt has caught 38 passes for 685 yards and six touchdowns.
Defensively, Indiana is led by Amare Ferrell who has four interceptions, Mikail Kamara who has 9.5 sacks and Aiden Fisher who has 85 tackles.
Ohio State, meanwhile, is coming off a blowout win over Northwestern, and a win over Indiana will all but punch its ticket to the Big Ten Football Championship Game.
"This is a big weekend for all of us and it's a big weekend for our fans,” Day said on Monday, via Eleven Warriors. “When they're loud, it makes a huge difference and it's going to make a difference in this game. This has got to be a hostile and angry environment. We've got everything on the line this week."
Ohio State is led by Will Howard who has thrown for 2,484 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. Quinshon Judkins has rushed for 723 yards and eight touchdowns, while Jeremiah Smith leads the team with 865 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
This will be a telling game to see if Indiana is legit. However, the Hoosiers struggled against Michigan, and this Ohio State defense should have a lot of success against Rourke and the offense.
Ohio State at home is a tough place to play as the Buckeyes rout Indiana and put into question the Hoosiers' playoff chances.
Prediction: Ohio State 41, Indiana 13.
