Tyler Onyedim, DL

A four-season veteran at Iowa State, Onyedim saw significant time over the past two seasons. In 2024, he totalled 33 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss, down from 2023, when he had 42 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He'll have a single season of eligibility remaining.

Jacob Ellis, LB

Ellis was a JUCO addition from Iowa Western after the 2021 season. He redshirted then saw some action in each of the last two seasons. Ellis had 15 tackles in 2023 and 17 tackles in 2024. He'll only have a season left in the portal, but had contributed over the past two seasons for the Cyclones.

Kenard Snyder, DE

A transfer from UL-Monroe, Synder had 121 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his two seasons there. Snyder's season at Iowa State wasn't exceptionally productive. He had eight tackles and two sacks in 10 games. Snyder will have only one season of eligibility remaining.

AJ Burton, OL

A recruit from Colorado, Burton didn't see any action in his freshman season with the Cyclones. He'll have a full four years of eligibility remaining.

Trevon Howard, S

Howard spent three seasons in the program, but was consistently slowed by injuries. He had 14 tackles in four games in 2022, limited by the desire to preserve a redshirt season. Injury limited Howard four games again in 2023 and he added nine more tackles. Howard had only four tackles in 2024, playing limited time. He'll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Trent Jones II, DL

Jones contributed fairly extensive for ISU in 2023, managing 19 tackles including three sacks. Playing less in 2024, Jones had just six tackles. Jones started as a walk-on, but gained a bigger role over four seasons. He'll have just one year of eligibility remaining.

JJ Kohl, QB

A big-time prospect from Iowa, Kohl played sparingly in 2023, completing 9 of 11 passes for 23 yards while running six times for 32 yards. Kohl only appeared in one game in 2024. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining and could be a highly sought-after prospect in the portal.

Drake Knobloch, LS

Knobloch is a long snapper, a long-suffering football role relatively devoid of glory. He played in 13 games in 2023 for ISU but was relegated to second-string status and played in just two games in 2024. Knobloch has two remaining seasons of eligibility.

Keegan Shackford, K

Shackford is a senior. He handled kickoffs regularly for Iowa State in 2023, but saw much less action in 2024. Accordingly, he'll take his one remaining season elsewhere via the portal.

Ryan Robinson Jr., CB

Robinson transferred in from LSU. He had walked on at LSU and played in four games. Robinson didn't see any action in his year at Iowa State and is now heading off. He has three seasons of remaining eligibility.
