Is Cole Adams playing today? Alabama's wide receiver's availability for Week 3
Crimson Tide's wide receiver Cole Adams suffered a right arm injury in Alabama's Week 2 game against the South Florida Bulls. Adams is also the Crimson Tide's designated punt returner.
“I think he dodged a lot of bullets with just how quickly he’s going to be coming back,” coach Kalen DeBoer said ahead of the game. “That’s great news for our program here in the last couple days, just with further assessments and the process he’s going through to get back on the football field.”
However, despite the progress, the arm injury seemed like a serious one and he isn't expected to be available for the game against Wisconsin in Week 3.
Cole Adams is in his second season with the Crimson Tide but barely played in 2023. He had only 11 receiving yards last year. In 2024, he has 42 yards in his punt returner role already.
Cole Adams and other injury updates
Although the details regarding the wide receiver's injury haven't been disclosed, he isn't expected to be able to suit up with Alabama for Week 3's clash against the Wisconsin Badgers.
The other two players who remain doubtful for the Crimson Tide are offensive tackles Kadyn Proctor and Elijah Pritchett. The former is expected to play, but the latter's participation seems doubtful. Here's what Kalen DeBoer said about their injuries midweek:
“He’s (Proctor) been practicing,” DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “He’s doing well, doing a good job and really was heading in a really good direction right at the very end of last week and turned the corner I think there, and is in a good spot here, done a nice job here in the first two days of practice.”
“We’re still working through the plan, but he (Pritchett) finished the game out on saturday and really had no more setbacks, which was great,” DeBoer added. “Something that we were very concerned about and didn’t want to hold him back.
"He had worked very hard from the week before, and injury that people weren’t aware of just because of the way the score was, so he’s in a good spot right now as well. We’re working through that plan and just the rotation with the offensive line.”
