Jalen Emery transfer portal: 5 landing spots for the Houston CB ft. Colorado
Jalen Emery joined the Houston Cougars as a three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. After redshirting his true freshman season, he recorded 37 total tackles, 30 of which were solo tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss and nine passes defended in three seasons.
Most of that production came in 2022, as he spent much of last year injured, making seven appearances and two starts. Emery appeared in two games this season before leaving in September.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports shared that he plans to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday, tweeting:
"Former Houston cornerback Jalen Emery plans to enter the transfer portal, he tells @On3sports . He'll have two years of eligibility remaining. Emery has 37 career tackles with a tackle for loss and nine pass breakups in 21 games."

Five potential Jalen Emery landing spots
#1 Colorado Buffaloes
The Colorado Buffaloes will have big shoes to fill in the secondary next season, as two-way star Travis Hunter is expected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Deion Sanders has shown that he's more than willing to utilize the transfer portal during his time leading the program. The Buffaloes will be in the market for a cornerback this offseason, so Jalen Emery could be a target.
#2 Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been the second-worst unit against the pass this season. They have allowed 309.0 passing yards per game, which is a major part of the reason they are allowing 36.3 points per game, the ninth-most in the nation.
The Red Raiders could target Jalen Emery, while giving him the opportunity to stay in his home state.
#3 Wake Forest Demon Deacons
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have also been terrible against the pass in 2024, allowing 281.7 passing yards per game, the fourth-most in the nation.
They have allowed opponents to score 33.4 ppg, the 19th-most in college football. Additionally, Dave Clawson and his staff recruited Jalen Emery coming out of high school, so there's some level of familiarity.
#4 Boise State Broncos
The Boise State Broncos are closing in on an appearance in the College Football Playoff. They have started the season 10-1 despite a defense that allows the 10th-most passing yards per game, 261.2.
The Broncos are another program that recruited Jalen Emery out of high school and could look to bring him in via the transfer portal.
#5 UTSA Roadrunners
The UTSA Roadrunners are another program who have been terrible in pass coverage, allowing 281.2 passing yards per game, the fifth-most in the nation. They could look to bring Emery in by offering him a chance to stay in Texas while receiving plenty of playing time.
