Jalon Daniels transfer portal: 5 landing spots for Kansas QB if he leaves after 2024 season
Kansas Jayhawks' Jalon Daniels is primed for a big 2024 season. The 21-year-old quarterback has thrown for 4,297 yards and 32 scores so far in his collegiate career. Daniels has shown moments of incredible ability but has battled injuries. When healthy, he's a game-changer.
Kansas has been fortunate to have Daniels, but in this day and age, it's fair to wonder if he might choose another school for his senior season in 2025. He has helped Kansas reach a level of respectability rarely seen by the program. The Jayhawks won nine games in 2023 — the same number of wins it totaled from 2015 to 2020.
But if Daniels wants to move up a level, here are some possible landing spots for him in 2025.
5 possible landing spots for Jalon Daniels in 2025
1.Ole Miss Rebels
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have been very aggressive in the transfer portal. Current passer Jaxson Dart will likely move along to the NFL after the 2024 season. While there is incredible depth behind him, the chance to add a dual-threat game-changer might be one the Rebels like.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss won 10 games in 2021 and won 11 in 2023. While the team could still struggle to get to the top of the SEC, it has a much better CFP shot than Kansas. This might make Ole Miss an ideal spot for Jalon Daniels in 2025.
2. Auburn Tigers
Hugh Freeze's big-time offense could use a big-time playmaker. Senior Peyton Thorne is at the controls this season, but Daniels would represent a significant upgrade in athleticism for the Tigers. Meanwhile, while Auburn has been down lately, it is a historically strong program that could get back into the SEC race in a hurry.
3. Michigan Wolverines
UM likes to play some power football and is about to embark on a 2024 season with a deeply questionable QB room. Daniels could help buy Michigan another year to develop young passers and could make the Wolverines more immediately explosive in the Big Ten. Michigan will almost certainly make a QB move and Jalon Daniels would be an easy fix if he's on the market.
4. Clemson Tigers
Maybe Cade Klubnik will shine at Clemson this season, and if so, he's likely to go to the NFL. If not, then his job will probably be in jeopardy. Clemson feels like a sleeping giant, with their loss total jumping since the 2019 title game from two to three, and then four. While the Tigers have favored a pocket passing offense, it was creative enough for Watson and Lawrence. Could be a good mutual fit in 2025.
5. Florida State Seminoles
FSU now has Clemson exile DJ Uiagalelei, however, he's already a senior. While FSU has some significant talent behind him, it could change things up with Daniels. The team has steadily improved from four straight losing seasons — from 10-3 to 13-1. They've got a good CFP spot this year and could continue to thrive in 2025 with Daniels.
