Keyvone Lee Transfer Portal: 4 landing spots for Mississippi State RB transferÂ
It might sound familiar but Keyvone Lee is in the transfer portal. Two years ago, Lee transferred from Penn State, eventually picking Mississippi State as his destination. After two seasons in Starkville, Lee is back on the move again. He played only four games in 2024, so he's got another year of eligibility.
Lee has rushed for 1,277 yards and seven touchdowns in five college seasons. He was a four-star recruit from Florida back in 2020. Lee's best college seasons were 2020 and 2021, with less playing time since.
Here's a closer look at four schools that might be interested in his services in 2025.
Keyvone Lee Transfer Portal: 4 possible transfer portal landing spots
#4. Florida
Lee was once a Florida commit before he chose Penn State. The Gators don't have a ton of room, but they do lose senior running back Montrell Johnson Jr., who was their second-leading rusher. Lee's been far from home at his first two spots, and he might try to settle in a bit more locally in his final destination. Now that Billy Napier's on more solid ground, UF could be a solid destination.
#3. Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights were one of the first programs recruiting Lee back in his high school days. Running back Kyle Monangai was brilliant, but his eligibility is exhausted and Rutgers could use some backfield help. Lee's experience makes him a viable option either as a feature back or, given his bullish game and thickness, as a power half of a power/speed duo.
#2. Georgia Tech
Tech was another school that took an active role in recruiting Lee back in 2019. The Yellowjackets could be okay, but running back Jamal Haynes is one of few non-seniors who could be NFL draft picks. Particularly if Haynes elects to try the NFL, Lee might be a significant part of picking up the slack. The Yellow Jackets and coach Brent Key would make sense for Lee.
#1. Florida State
Virtually no one needs help more than the Florida State Seminoles. Unsurprisingly, they also recruited Lee out of high school. Florida State rushed for just 2.8 yards per carry and the only back with more than 173 rushing yards was a senior. After a 2-10 season, the Seminoles can't be too choosy.
Lee hasn't seen significant carries since 2021, and when he did, he did a fine job at Penn State. Lee could be a bridge for Mike Norvell until he can recruit high school prospects or multi-year backs to fill the feature back role.
