"Lane Kiffin is wild": Fans call Ole Miss coach's 26 player injury report as 'Elite’ trolling stunt
College football fans are buzzing over Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin's latest move, calling it an "elite” trolling stunt. Ahead of No. 16 Ole Miss's big home game against No. 2 Georgia, Kiffin dropped an injury report that listed a whopping 26 players.
The curious list, revealed on Wednesday, has sparked speculation that Kiffin has been instructing players to fake injuries to run down the game clock.
According to a tweet from insider Pete Thamel, listing 26 players on an injury report might be a record in SEC history.
With Ole Miss already under scrutiny for alleged fake injuries, fans couldn’t help but call this report a masterclass in trolling. One fan commented:
"Lane Kiffin is wild!"
“Lane trolling lmao,” another fan said.
“Elite mind fu**ery,” one fan said.
“Georgia bloodbath incoming + lame troll job,” a fan said.
“Oh no the rebels are dead in the water…. Georgia is going to stomp Ole Miss! No doubt!” another fan said.
“Lol it's very obvious you don't know Lane very well,” one fan said.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey sends memo ordering coaches not to direct players to fake injuries
Last week, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey sent a memo to conference head coaches and athletic directors with an updated policy on faking injuries. Now, any questionable injury timing will be reviewed by the National Coordinator.
If a school is caught twice with players faking injuries, it will face fines. After that, coaches risk suspension for every additional violation.
On Wednesday, Ole Miss' injury report, which listed 26 players, raised further concerns. This new policy and a long injury list are likely to stir up some game-time decisions for Ole Miss and across the conference.
