Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers on cloud nine after Texas leapfrogs Michigan challenge at Ann Arbor

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and the team won against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. Ewers passed for 246 yards and three touchdowns, helping the No. 3 Longhorns to a decisive 31-12 victory over the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines.

Ewers was ecstatic after winning at Ann Arbor. Big Noon Kickoff posted a video on X capturing Ewers’ reaction.

Ewers had a wide smile on his face while recording the video. He also showed the crowd cheering after their win and moved the camera toward the audience and said:

“Hey, you hear it? You hear it, baby. We came out, we played a clean game, we did what we needed to do. We did it for you guys. Hook'em Horns, baby.”

Big Noon Kickoff captioned the post saying:

“Checkin’ in with @texasfootball QB @QuinnEwers post W. #GOATalk.”

The Longhorns' offense showed ball movement, both through the air and on the ground. In contrast, the defending national champions, the Wolverines, struggled with turnovers and offense.

Michigan quarterback Davis Warren completed 22 of 33 passes for 204 yards. He also managed a touchdown and two interceptions. Preseason All-America tight end Colston Loveland contributed eight receptions for 70 yards and committed an unforced fumble.

The Longhorns quickly established dominance in the game. Texas' performance was nearly flawless, with the lone exception being linebacker David Gbenda's unsuccessful attempt to plant the Longhorns' white flag into the maize block M at midfield.

Quinn Ewers might be in the 2025 NFL draft

Quinn Ewers has been projected to go third overall to the New York Giants in CBS Sports' latest NFL mock draft. This would make him the first quarterback selected in the draft.

Mike Renner of CBS Sports praised Ewers' performance in the Longhorns' Week 1 victory. Renner mentioned Ewers’ improved comfort level and impressive anticipation throws and said (as per Athlon Sports):

"Ewers played with a level of comfort in the Longhorns' Week 1 win that we hadn't seen from him in his first two years with the Longhorns. The five-star pedigree shone through with numerous high-level anticipation throws."

Ewers is now entering his third season at Texas. After transferring from Ohio State, Ewers showed his talent in his redshirt freshman year at Texas. In 10 games, he amassed 2,177 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions.

His outstanding performance earned him an honorable mention for the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
