Luke Kandra injured: What happened to Cincinnati star guard?

Luke Kandra suffered a minor leg injury in the opening drive of Cincinnati's game against Colorado on Saturday night. The veteran guard was forced off the turf for a while but was able to walk off on his own and returned for the next series.

Kandra has played over 1300 football snaps since transferring to Cincinnati from Louisville for the 2023 season.


Luke Kandra's career highlights

Kandra started his college career with the ACC's Louisville Cardinals in 2020. He redshirted for his first season but took on significant responsibilities from 2021. He appeared in 21 games for the Cardinals between 2021 and 2022, making two stars in the latter year.

In 2023, after playing in all 12 of the Bearcats games, Luke Kandra earned a series of accolades. They include selections in the AP All-Big 12 First Team, coaches All-Big 12 Second Team, the Walter Camp All-America Second Team, the AP All-America Third Team, The Athletic and On3 All-Portal Team and The Athletic Midseason All-Transfer Team.

In 2024, he has played seven games so far.


Cincinnati vs. Colorado: Colorado holds a 24-14 lead at halftime

Things don't look great for Luke Kendra's Cincinnati Bearcats, as their Week 9 opponent seems to hold a comfortable lead in proceedings heading into the second half of the game. With 28 seconds left in the second quarter, Shedeur Sanders threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Travis Hunter, which put the score at 24-14.

While the game isn't anywhere near being a close deal, the play seemed to be the first nail in Cincinnati's coffin. Shedeur Sanders has led the Buffaloes offense with 225 passing yards and two touchdown passes.

He's averaging 10.2 yards per pass. Travis Hunter is the lead receiver for Colorado, recording 113 yards with two touchdown receptions.
