Michael Vick & Jalen Hurts drop eye-catching remarks on Travis Hunter as he continues to stand out for Colorado

A non-quarterback winning the Heisman Trophy is not completely new but does not happen often. However, two-way athlete Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes is certainly making a case to be the first wide receiver since DeVonta Smith (2021) and the first cornerback since Charles Woodson (1997) to win the award.

While on the red carpet for the "Evolution of the Black Quarterback" special on Amazon Prime Video at the Apollo Theater in New York City, Uncle Neely from "Thee Pregame Show" asked a few notable players about Hunter.

Former No. 1 pick of the 2001 NFL draft and four-time Pro Bowler Michael Vick discussed what he thinks of when he hears the name Travis Hunter.

"Explosive. First round pick, number-one pick, that's all," Vick said on Sept. 24. "'Mr. Do It All.'"

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts also had nothing but praise for the two-way star.

"He's a playmaker, hell of a player," Hurts said. "Excited to see what his journey looks like in the future."

While he is not the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy, only Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (+225) is ahead of Travis Hunter (+300). It will be interesting to see if Hunter can continue showcasing his skills on both sides of the football and if he'll win the Heisman Trophy this season.

Where will Travis Hunter be selected in the 2025 NFL draft?

Travis Hunter is eligible for the 2025 NFL draft and he will be an intriguing prospect as teams could prefer him at one position over the other, or allow him to play both sides of the ball. After Week 5 of the NFL season, the top five picks look like this:

  1. New England Patriots
  2. Cincinnati Bengals
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars
  4. Cleveland Browns
  5. LA Rams

With the New England Patriots selecting QB Drake Maye with the third pick in the 2024 draft, they could be the team that takes Travis Hunter. Other players could be the first pick but not many have his skillset.

So far this season, he has 46 receptions for 561 yards (12.2 yards per catch) with a career-high six touchdown receptions as well as 15 tackles, three pass deflections, one forced fumble and a pair of interceptions. It is not out of the question that the Patriots could get Maye another weapon offensively while helping the secondary out with just one pick.
