Michigan HC Sherrone Moore drops blunt statement on replacing Jim Harbaugh: "I'm not gonna change"
After Michigan's triumphant 15-0 run in the 2023 college football season, coach Jim Harbaugh decided to try his luck in the NFL and join the LA Chargers. On Jan. 26, offensive line coach Sherrone Moore was promoted as the new Wolverines head coach to take forward their momentum in the upcoming season.
Moore first joined the Wolverines as a tight ends coach in 2018 and stayed in that position for three years. He later moved to become the offensive coordinator at Michigan.
In the 2023 season, Sherrone Moore was appointed to be the interim head coach owing to the controversies surrounding Jim Harbaugh and his team. He led the Wolverines in four matchups, seemingly proving his mettle to the U of M board.
Moore spoke to Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt on his show, "The Joel Klatt Show," and discussed how he saw the role of leading the national champions as they defend their crown.
"I'm not going to change. I'm going to be who I've always been," Moore said. "I've always been a process-driven person. That's who I'm going to be. I'm not going to change that first, always going to put players first, always going to do that. And that's something Me and Coach were very close on together about how we did things, who this program was about, is about the players and even the philosophy of offense and defense.
"There'll be some different changes and what we do. But you know, to my core, we're gonna be physical, we're gonna be tough, we're gonna try to outlast people. We're gonna be multiple in every phase, and we're gonna be fundamentally sound and balance what we do."

Sherrone Moore's bold strides in the recruitment process
Moore had a bit of a rocky and somewhat slow start to the recruitment process. However, things are starting to change as the Wolverines are expecting to land some talented players in the coming weeks.
Sherrone Moore has also been hinting at Michigan's recruitment successes via cryptic posts on X:
Four-star tight end Andrew Olesh is expected to announce his commitment on July 8, which would be a great pick for Michigan for the 2025 class.
During an interview with On3, Olesh opened up about what makes Michigan one of the top runners:
“They’re about to produce a first-round draft pick at tight end in Colston Loveland and I feel like I can replace him and go in there and play considerably early. That is one of the reasons why I would want to go to Michigan."
Michigan is also in the running to flip Ivan Taylor, who is the son of former Super Bowl champion Ike Taylor and is committed to coach Marcus Freeman's Notre Dame.
Fans would be interested to see how Michigan under Sherrone Moore performs in the 2024 college football season after losing big names like J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum and Jim Harbaugh.
