Miller Moss Transfer Portal: 5 landing spots for USC QB ft. Missouri

The transfer portal isn't just for benchwarmers, and USC Trojans quarterback Miller Moss is just the latest proof. Moss, who started for the Trojans in 2024, is expected to enter the transfer portal. A four-star recruit, Moss has a wealth of talent and is likely to be a starting QB at a power program next season.

In his USC career, Moss has passed for 3,469 yards and 27 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions. In 2024, his first full-time season as a starter, Moss threw for 2,555 yards and 18 scores.

Here are five potential destinations that make sense for Moss.

#5. Louisville

Transfer portal QB Tyler Shough had a solid year for the Cardinals, but he was a one-and-done and Louisville would love to nab Moss for 2025. The Cardinals, under former Purdue coach Jeff Brohm, throw the ball well and in the wide-open atmosphere of the ACC, Moss could put up big numbers.

Meanwhile, Louisville would benefit from an offensive triggerman who would probably boost the Cardinals' hopes of a College Football Playoff spot in 2025. Moss is a proven quality and has plenty of talent. For a portal-heavy program like Louisville, Miller Moss could be the next great QB recruit.

#4. Colorado

Speaking of teams that utilize QBs, something has to happen at Colorado. Sure, "Coach Prime" is an acquired taste that might be a little risk-intensive for a guy like Moss. But Shedeur Sanders will be playing on Sunday and if Deion is still in Boulder, he needs a QB.

Meanwhile, Moss could benefit from a league without any real premier defenses. As the 2024 season has proven, the Big 12 is likely to be annually open for the taking. Colorado has become a destination program and Miller Moss might be the guy to put at the center of the team after Shedeur's day in the sun.

#3. Michigan

Michigan is a year removed from a national title but has had to move into a new era. The Wolverines won seven games and topped Ohio State essentially despite their QBs. Alex Orji and Davis Warren aren't the ticket in Ann Arbor. Michigan already has five-star freshman Bryce Underwood in the pipeline, but Moss could be an attractive option.

With Moss in place, Underwood could have a year as an understudy in the mode of Tim Tebow or Arch Manning. Meanwhile, Moss would give Michigan a QB with enough upside to be immediately competitive in the Big Ten. It could be a mutually convenient 2025 season match for the Wolverines and Moss.

#2. Iowa

Iowa's struggles on offense are legendary. The Hawkeyes haven't had a big-time QB in memory. But Iowa is sincere about picking things up on offense. They went from 15.4 points per game in 2023 to 28.0 in 2024. Moss would probably give Iowa the freedom to diversity and experiment even more.

Meanwhile, the Hawkeye offensive line is one of the best in football. Moss could have a final college season secure in lots of comfortable pockets with ample time to let plays develop. For a player who has seen something of a mess in progress at USC, the stability of Iowa could be an underrated component in Moss's choice.

#1. Missouri

The most immediate possibility for Moss lies in Missouri. The Tigers went 9-3 and went to the edge of the College Football Playoff picture with Brady Cook. Moss is a bigger talent and Missouri continues to add capable playmakers on the periphery to create a top-flight offense.

Meanwhile, Moss might as well cast his lot in the SEC. A final season in the nation's most talent-rich testing ground would be a great warm-up to Moss's intended NFL career. Eli Drinkwitz could use another veteran QB and Moss would benefit from going to a better program in a better league. Missouri seems like a nice fit.
