10 college football teams with longest losing streaks heading into Week 10 ft. UCF, Oklahoma State
Every college team has good years and down years. Some spurts of success tend to feel brighter than others, depending on the infrastructure of programs, and the slumps don't last as long. Some teams are never fully in it to make the postseason but can create a watchable, competitive product.
Losing streaks can be rough, but some teams have it especially rough. Here are the 10 teams with the longest losing streaks in college football.
Multi-season misery
The Kent State Golden Flashes are on a 17-game losing streak dating back to last year. Their last victory was on September 16, 2023, against Central Connecticut, 38-10. They're 0-8 this season.
Their most glaring loss in style and publicity was their 71-0 shutout against the Tennessee Volunteers. Yes, 71-0!
Kent State is coming off a 52-21 road defeat at Western Kentucky. After their bye this upcoming weekend, they will head home to face the Ohio Bobcats. They are one of many candidates, if not the front-runners, for the worst team in college football, under head coach Kenni Burns.
Bad news Bulldogs, even worst defense
When Jeff Lebby became the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs this offseason, everyone was excited about his high-powered offensive scheme. Lebby was known for constructing outstanding passing attacks under Josh Heupel at UCF, Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss, and Brent Venables at Oklahoma.
While the offense has certainly had some flashes, the poor defensive play on the part of the Bulldogs has dragged them down to 1-7 on the year. Their only win came in their opening game, against Eastern Kentucky 56-7.
They still have five ranked opponents to go on their schedule, including No. 7 Tennessee, No. 25 Missouri, and No. 19 Ole Miss.
Missteps for Mike Gundy
The Oklahoma State Cowboys began the year ranked No. 17 in the preseason polls. Now, they're on a five-game skid.
They opened up the year on a three-game winning streak against South Dakota, Arkansas and Tulsa. They haven't won since.
Running back Ollie Gordon II has transformed from one of the premier running backs in college football to arguably one of the most disappointing and inefficient Power Four Conference players in the country. He has put up over 100 rushing yards this season twice and has gone under 40 on three occasions.
