3 Alabama Crimson Tide players expected to be great but could be busts against Kirby Smart's Georgia in Week 5
The Alabama Crimson Tide has gotten off to a strong start after entering the season as the No. 5 team in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll. They began the year with a 63-0 blowout victory against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to move up one spot in the rankings.
Alabama has since continued to blow opponents out, beating the South Florida Bulls and Wisconsin Badgers by 26 and 32 points, respectively. They will have a bye this weekend before returning to the field in their first of five games against a conference rival ranked in the top 16 of the latest rendition of the AP Top 25 Poll.
Their Week 5 matchup comes as the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs visit Tuscaloosa. Here's a closer look at three players who are expected to be great but could be busts.
3 Alabama Crimson Tide players expected to be great but could be busts against Georgia
#1. Jalen Milroe - QB
Jalen Milroe entered the season among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. The four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class has largely played well so far this season, throwing for 590 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 67.3% of his passes. He has added 156 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 36 carries.
Milroe will face a much tougher test against a Georgia Bulldogs defense that ranks fourth in scoring defense, eighth in total yards allowed per game and second in passing yards allowed per game.
#2. Jamarion Miller - RB
Jamarion Miller has run the ball well in the first three weeks of the season. The four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class has 265 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries. While Georgia's defense only ranks No. 47 against the run, their ability to take away the passing game could slow him down.
#3. Ryan Williams - WR
Ryan Williams has been among the biggest surprises in the nation this season as he has been dominating college football at just 17 years old. The five-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class has caught 10 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns so far. Look for Kirby Smart to find a way to keep the true freshman uninvolved next weekend.
