3 Michigan Wolverines who could make an impact in Week 3 game against Arkansas State

The Michigan Wolverines entered the season ranked No. 9 in the nation despite being the defending national champions. They were able to extend their winning streak to 16 games in their season opener as they beat the Fresno State Bulldogs 30-10. Their offense struggled to move the ball, however, failing to register 300 yards of total offense.

That was a sign of things to come as they suffered a 31-12 loss to the Texas Longhorns in Week 2. The loss dropped Michigan to No. 17 in the latest rendition of the AP Top 25 Poll. They will look to get back on track when the Arkansas State Red Wolves visit The Big House in Week 3.

Here's a closer look at three Wolverines who could make an impact this weekend.

3 Michigan Wolverines who could make an impact in Week 3 game against Arkansas State

#1. Will Johnson

Will Johnson joined the Michigan Wolverines as a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. After two consecutive strong seasons, including a first-team All-American nod in 2023, he has played well in the early portion of the season.

Johnson has recorded six tackles, five of which were solo, one interception which he returned for a touchdown and one pass defended. Look for him to continue to play at a high level.

#2. Donovan Edwards

Donovan Edwards joined the Wolverines as a five-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. After an up-and-down three seasons, he entered the year with plenty of preseason hype. Edwards has struggled over the first two games, rushing for 68 yards on 19 carries. He added three receptions for two yards and one touchdown in the first two games. Expect him to finally break out in Week 3.

#3. Colston Loveland

Colston Loveland joined Michigan as a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He has improved his production in each of his first two seasons and gotten off to a great start in 2024. Loveland has caught 16 passes for 157 yards and one touchdown so far this season. He should continue to produce against Arkansas State on Saturday.
