3 reasons why Georgia Bulldogs could secure a win against Auburn in Week 6
The Georgia Bulldogs have gotten off to a strong start to the 2024 college football season as they are sitting at 3-1, including a 1-1 mark in SEC play, and ranked No. 5 in the nation. They began the year by blowing out the then-No. 14 Clemson Tigers in their season opener and followed it up with another blowout, albeit against a much less impressive opponent – the FCS-level Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
The Bulldogs struggled in their SEC opener against the Kentucky Wildcats, narrowly escaping with a 13-12 win. After a Week 4 bye, they visited Tuscaloosa last weekend to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in an early Game of the Year contender, which the home team won 41-34.
Georgia will return home for the first time since Week 2 when they face the Auburn Tigers (2-3) in Athens on Saturday. Here's a closer look at three reasons why the Bulldogs should win their Week 6 matchup.
3 reasons why Georgia Bulldogs could beat Auburn Tigers in Week 6
#1. They have been elite
The Bulldogs have been among the best teams in the nation this season, despite their loss to the Crimson Tide. They entered last weekend's matchup allowing just 6.0 points per game and 202.0 yards per game, ranking third and fourth in the nation, respectively. Offensively, they had yet to commit a turnover. While they did not play at the same level last week, they were facing another juggernaut.
#2. Auburn is not Alabama
The Auburn Tigers may play in the state of Alabama, but they are not the Alabama Crimson Tide. While the latter program forced four turnovers and scored 41 points last weekend, the Tigers do not have the same level of talent on either side of the ball. Additionally, Georgia showed just how good it is after erasing a 28-0 deficit to tie things up with 2:31 remaining in the game.
#3. Motivated to bounce back
The Georgia Bulldogs will enter their Week 6 matchup with the Auburn Tigers with plenty of motivation to bounce back from an ugly game in which they beat themselves in many ways. It is rare to see a program as great as the Bulldogs lose in consecutive weeks. Additionally, the crowd will also be fired up as it has been nearly a month since the team has played at home.
