$45 million worth Deion Sanders back to work with his fiery locker room speech at Colorado's fall camp before 2024 season
Deion Sanders is back at it, delivering a fiery locker room speech as Colorado kicks off its fall camp for the 2024 season. Last year, Coach Prime hyped the nation with his passionate preseason camp speech, famously telling his players after a practice brawl:
"If one of us fights, we all fight!"
On Saturday, in a video dropped on Instagram, Sanders made it clear this season won’t go to waste. With his signature intensity, he commanded his players to “protect it”:
“Protect it,” Coach Prime said. “Let's run the darn football. Defense in front. Get to the darn quarterback. Stand your gap. Do what you're told to do. We're not missing any more tackles. We're not doing it.”
Prime Time, who has a net worth of $45 million (per Celebrity Net Worth) inspired the special teams too, saying:
“Special teams, we're going to be special,” he told players. “We get up from now and we're going to take it. We're going to take it. We got opportunity. Ain't no other opportunity sitting in front of us.”
The Buffs coach didn't stop there and challenged his players to define themselves:
“Who are we going to be right now? Who are we going to be? It's on y'all. It's on y'all,” Sanders said. “Figure it out. Who are you going to be right now? But take some responsibility of yourself.”
With his final rallying cry to the coaches and players, Sanders said:
“Coaches, coach, dirt it,” he said. “Let's make some dirt adjustments. Coach, please. Defensively, we're not giving up nothing deep, nothing cheap, and we will not beat ourselves. Do we understand? Let's go get it.”
Prime Time is back to doing prime things and it's going to be thrilling to see how Colorado rises to the challenge this 2024 season.
Deion Sanders' hyped-up Colorado speeches last season
Last season in August, during preseason camp, Deion Sanders emphasized the competitive nature of football and each player's role saying:
"Some of you right now, you don't even know that you're fighting for a position today... You're fighting for something."
Before Colorado's stunning upset victory over TCU in September last season, Sanders delivered another fiery locker room speech:
"This is about us," he said. "We ain't got tomorrow, we've got now… ain't coming no more."
Following a loss to USC last September, Sanders reflected on the team's identity.
“What’s our identity?” he said. “I don’t know who we are. I don’t know what we gonna do. From practice to practice, I do, but we’ve got to translate that into the games. So we're still searching for our true identity.”
Prime Time, the charismatic head coach of the Buffaloes, wrapped up his first season in 2023 with a 4-8 record. Despite a promising start that saw the team surpass their preseason expectations of just 3.5 wins, the Buffaloes struggled towards the end, dropping their final six games.
