5 college football stars who reacted to Khyree Jackson's tragic death in Maryland
On Saturday (July 6), former Oregon Ducks cornerback Khyree Jackson tragically died in a car accident. He was 24 years old.
Jackson had an impressive college career that ended with the Ducks, and he recorded 34 tackles during the 2023 season. These performances gave Jackson a chance to play in the NFL, and the Minnesota Vikings picked him in Round 4 of the 2024 draft with the 108th pick.
After his passing, many college football stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to Jackson. Here is a selection of the tributes.
5 tributes to Khyree Jackson by college football stars
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart is a wide receiver with the Oregon Ducks, having transferred from Texas A&M at the beginning of the year. This means that Stewart never played with Jackson, but he paid tribute to him all the same.
Stewart shared a news post of his death on Instagram:
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson is a linebacker who plays with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Lawson and Jackson were teammates at Alabama for two seasons and played a few games together in 2022, before Jackson was suspended by the Crimson Tide and subsequently left the program.
Lawson posted a photo of Jackson on Instagram with the caption:
"damn bro"
Dan Lanning
Lanning is the current head coach of the Oregon Ducks and worked with Jackson in his final year of college football. After an eventful period at Alabama, Lanning developed Jackson into a strong, NFL-standard cornerback.
Dan Lanning posted his tribute to his former player on X:
"RIP Khyree… Love you @Real_Khyree at a loss for words. I will miss your smile. Great player better person."
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond is a former wide receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide and will be spending his 2024 season with the Texas Longhorns after transferring to the program in the offseason. Bond was on the same team as Jackson during his freshman year in 2022.
In his tribute to Jackson, Bond used the same picture as Lawson did, but with a different caption:
"Rest easy twin"
Terrion Arnold
The final tribute comes from someone who knew Jackson well. Terrion Arnold played in the same position as Jackson at Alabama and played with him in some games during their time with the Crimson Tide.
Arnold's tribute to his former teammate featured a picture of the two, with the caption:
