5 SEC defensive players to watch out for in Week 4 of college football season ft. Kyle Kennard

The SEC schedule is in full swing as the calendar turns to Week 4. While there were only four conference games over the first three weeks, that will change this weekend as there are another four such games on the schedule. The SEC has been strong in the early portion of the year as the 16 teams have combined for a 36-12 record that includes going 32-8 outside of conference play.

Here's a closer look at five SEC defensive players to watch out for this weekend.

#1. Kyle Kennard

Kyle Kennard initially joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He joined the South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1) via the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season and has shined thus far. He has recorded eight total tackles, six of which were solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. Kennard will look to add his impressive start against the Akron Zips (1-2) in Week 4.

#2. Sai'vion Jones

Sai'vion Jones joined the LSU Tigers (2-1) as a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He has gotten off to a great start this season, recording 12 total tackles, eight of which were solo tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defended. He will face the UCLA Bruins (1-1) in Week 4.

#3. Bradyn Swinson

Bradyn Swinson initially joined the Oregon Ducks as a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He joined LSU via the transfer portal ahead of the 2023 season. He has recorded 11 tackles, six of which were solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble.

#4. R Mason Thomas

R Mason Thomas joined the Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) as a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He has recorded seven total tackles, five of which were solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass defended. He will look to continue his strong season against the Tennessee Volunteers (3-0) this weekend.

#5. Keldric Faulk

Keldric Faulk joined the Auburn Tigers (2-1) as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He has recorded 11 total tackles, eight of which were solo tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks and one pass defended. He will look to continue his strong season against the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1) in Week 4.
