$53M worth Mike Norvell make huge confession on Florida State debacle: "I’m responsible for every single thing"

The Florida State Seminoles have had one of the most, if not the most, disappointing college football seasons in recent memory. The team currently sits at 1-9 after opening the season ranked No. 10 in the AP poll.

Head coach Mike Norvell has come under intense scrutiny for the massive decline in the quality of football after falling just short of making the 2023 College Football Playoff last season despite going undefeated.

He adressed the shortcomings again Tuesday.

“So, I mean, I apologize," Norvell said. "I have apologized that the record is what it is, right? You know, because I’m responsible for every single thing and I own that and I will be better. That record doesn’t have to define you right? The response will define you. Go be the best you can be. If you can do that, great things will happen. That’s what I would encourage anybody, you know, especially this wonderful fan base I get to represent.”

Turbulence in Tallahassee

When Florida State lost Jordan Travis to the New York Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft, they needed a replacement. DJ Uiagalelei seemed like a sensible pickup in the transfer portal - a senior with experience under his belt. Not only did he underperform individually, but he lost his starting job halfway through the season. He went 1-4 in five starts, throwing four touchdowns and six picks.

Florida State turned to freshman Brock Glenn, who is 0-5 as a starter this season. He has 556 passing yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Fans are rightfully upset that in a weaker ACC likely to produce only one team in the 2024 College Football Playoff, the Seminoles still can't seem to catch a break.

Norvell understands.

I’ll say it with you," Norvell iterated. "It’s not been good enough. You continue to speak the good of who we are, of where we are, of where we’re going. That’s what we can control as a fan base, as individuals."
