The Alabama Crimson Tide entered the season with the fifth-best odds, +1400, to win a national championship. That mark was tied with the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels for the third-best in the SEC. Their title odds have slightly improved after back-to-back blowout victories to open the Kalen DeBoer era.

Alabama now has +1100 odds to emerge as national champions. They have the third-best in the SEC, trailing only the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 2 Texas Longhorns. That is tied with the No. 9 Oregon Ducks for the fourth-best in the nation. Aside from the aforementioned SEC programs, only the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes have better title odds.

The Crimson Tide's odds of reaching the College Football Playoff sit at -185, tied with Rebels for the sixth-highest in the nation and third-highest in the SEC. Only the Buckeyes, Bulldogs, Longhorns, Ducks and No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions have better postseason odds.

A strong start to the post-Nick Saban era

Alabama began their season with a 63-0 blowout victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Week 1. They followed it up by defeating the South Florida Bulls 42-16 on Saturday. The Crimson Tide return to action with a road matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers in Week 3.

The true test will come when SEC play begins the following week as the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs visit Tuscaloosa. It will be the first of three conference matchups against teams ranked in the top seven and five conference matchups against teams ranked in the top 16.
