AP Poll Top 25 rankings (Week 3): Michigan slides; Quinn Ewers' Texas sees massive improvement

The newest AP Poll Top 25 list was revealed on Sunday after Saturday's Week 2 matchups. The Week 3 AP Top 25 saw some major shakeups after several upsets on Saturday's slate of games.

There were some key changes among the top five teams in the country, while some new faces entered this week's rankings. Here's a look inside the key changes of the Week 3 AP Top 25 Poll.

Georgia remains on top, Texas jumps Ohio State for No. 2 spot in new AP Poll

The Texas Longhorns (3-0) looked dominant in a top 10 clash against the Michigan Wolverines, winning 31-12 in Ann Arbor. Quinn Ewers looked like a true Heisman candidate, completing 24 of 36 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns on one of the biggest stages.

The Longhorns defense also answered the call, establishing themselves as a dominant team in the trenches. Texas held the Michigan offense under 300 total yards and limited their rushing attack to just 82 yards on 22 carries.

With the win, the Longhorns jumped the Ohio State Buckeyes (2-0) for the No. 2 spot in the country.

Michigan slides in AP Poll after blowout loss

In a loss that was more in-hand for Texas than the final score would entail, the defending national champions struggled to gain any momentum at home versus Texas.

Michigan's defense let up 389 total yards of offense, while their interior defensive line didn't live up to expectations versus Texas. Standout defensive linemen Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant struggled against an experienced Longhorns offensive line, allowing 143 rushing yards in the loss.

Following their loss, the Wolverines slid seven spots to the No. 17 ranking in the country with a 1-1 record on the season. The loss also ended Michigan's wining streak spanning 16 games.

Nebraska joins AP Top 25 for first time since 2019 season

It'd be impossible to discuss the Week 3 AP Poll without bringing up the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who dominated the Colorado Buffaloes in the 28-10 win.

Nebraska freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola looked calm, cool and collected in his second collegiate start against arguably the most popular team in the nation in Colorado, throwing for 185 yards and a touchdown.

The Cornhuskers' defense limited Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes' offense to just 10 points for the game and just 260 yards of total offense. With their impressive win, Nebraska enters the Top 25 for the first time since Week 2 of the 2019 season, where they finished 5-7.

Honorable Mention: NIU Huskies upset No. 5 Notre Dame

The NIU Huskies upset the fifth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, entering the Top 25 for the first time since 2013. Notre Dame entered the game as 28.5-point favorites.

With one of the most shocking losses of the college football season, Notre Dame falls all the way to No. 18, while NIU checks in at No. 25.
