"Appreciating the journey, rather than being accolade-driven": Carson Beck on blocking out instant gratification and earning his spot at Georgia

Carson Beck is looking forward to his second season as the starter of the Georgia Bulldogs. During the SEC media days last week, the signal-caller sat down with On3 and spoke about the process of becoming Georgia's starter and avoiding instant gratification.

Here's what Carson Beck told J.D. Pickell about the subject on Tuesday:

"Yeah obviously in a world where everybody is so instant gratification focused, we have our phones that are so fast and you can get information in one click ... appreciating the journey rather than being accolade-driven, just having fun and enjoying where your feet are and staying grounded and enjoying that part of it, really made the journey easier for me..."

Beck also spoke about what made this off-season different from his first year as a starter:

"Yeah I think it changes it a little bit, obviously the main thing is the main thing and the things I always work on and focus on are always going to be there... (Last season) I had to look at what I was doing most of the time and I tried to improve in every single which way but I think now that I have a season under my belt ... I think my focus has become more outwardly focused on my teammates and how can I be the best player to make the people around me better."

Cavinder had initially quit college hoops, forgoing her last year of athletic eligibility to pursue other business interests. However, in April Hannah and her twin sister Hailey Cavinder decided to come back to Miami for a final season of basketball (Hailey had previously transferred to TCU, but she turned her back on that commitment).
