"Arch Manning about to transfer to Georgia": CFB world abuzz with potential Quinn Ewers return rumors

The succession for the Texas Longhorns quarterback role was supposed to be smooth. When the year started, Steve Sarkisian announced Quinn Ewers as the starting quarterback over Arch Manning. Many assumed Manning would enter the transfer portal, but it turned out that he would much rather learn under Sarkisian and Ewers than go elsewhere.

However, the season didn't completely go the Longhorns' way, losing to Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs twice, once in the regular season and then again in the SEC Championship game.

Ewers is reportedly contemplating whether to declare for the NFL draft or return for another year in college football after a dismal season, leading many scouts to believe he should use his final year of eligibility. However, whatever may be the case, the Longhorns are reportedly convinced that Arch Manning is their guy for the upcoming season.

Reacting to the news, one fan reckoned Arch Manning would enter the transfer portal and head to Georgia:

"Arch Manning about to Transfer to Georgia"

"Arch Manning will transfer to UNC," another wrote.
"Come to the team out west. Dan Lanning and the team have a proven track record of taking good qbs to new heights," another fan wrote.

Some offered advice on how to handle the situation:

"I don't think Quinn's stock in the draft goes up with one more year. Arguably, it's lower this year than last year, as teams know how to play him. If he stays at UT, he could easily lose his starting spot to Arch if he comes out slow. If he transfers - would a top team take him?" one fan said.
"Ewers will have to transfer unfortunately. Texas wants Arch for next year, they've put too much NIL for him to sit two years and the sit a third. Ewers would be the best plug and play QB of the Transfer Portal Class," one fan posted.

One fan opined that UNC would be the right place for Ewers to transfer and play under new head coach Bill Belichick:

"This feels like UNC all day. Bill would value his experience. Quinn could learn a lot from a guy who was in the same building as Brady for 2 decades," one fan commented.

Former NFL scout claims Texas Longhorns have no shot at NCAA Championship with Quinn Ewers

After losing the SEC Championship game against the Bulldogs, the Longhorns were given the No. 5 seed by the College Football Playoff committee. They could have earned the bye in the first round if they had won their conference.

Since it's no longer the case, the No. 5 Longhorns will play against the No. 12 Clemson Tigers in the first round. The game will be played on Dec. 21 in Austin.

Former NFL scout John Middlekauff urged Steve Sarkisian to start Arch Manning over Quinn Ewers in order to win the NCAA championship.

"Texas does have that with Arch Manning now. I don't know if [Sarkisian believes he's as good of a passer right now as Quinn Ewers clearly by not playing him. You've already paid Quinn the NIL, but I think they have no shot to win the national championship with him at quarterback," Middlekayff said.

The debate over the better starter for the Longhorns has repeatedly arisen this season. However, Sarkisian has remained committed to Ewers being his starting man if healthy.
