Arkansas fans demand Sam Pittman's firing after Razorbacks' "embarrassing" loss to Ole Miss: "Time to part ways"
Sam Pittman's Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a crushing 63-31 defeat against the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels in Week 10 on Saturday. Following Arkansas' fourth loss of the season, Pittman said that his team was outmatched by Ole Miss and expressed hope that the Razorbacks can win at least two more games to become Bowl eligible.
However, Pittman's post-match comments did not sit well with the Arkansas faithful, many of whom suggested that the program should part ways with the coach.
On X, some fans felt that Arkansas' loss to Ole Miss could have been the final nail in the coffin for Pittman to get fired.
"I’m not sure what the qualifications are to be the head football coach at Arkansas. But I’m pretty sure the administration isn’t fond of Sam Pittman’s demeanor after such an embarrassing loss. It’s time to part ways he has clearly lost the locker room at this point," one fan said.
"Yeah we gotta get this guy outta here," added fan said.
"Dude if that's his response, fire him," a fan said.
Others were shamed by the fact that Pittman's target now was to win a bare minimum of six games just for Arkansas to qualify for a bowl game.
"Aka let me get my bowl game bonus. We are an embarrassment." a fan said.
"Hey guys ignore the fact we suck and continuously get embarrassed, we are 6-6! Smile baby we going back to the toilet bowl!" one fan said.
"After 40 years of support and the $$ spent I’m tired of the “ whatever “ bowls !" one fan said.
The Razorbacks will have another tough test in Week 12 when they host the No. 6-ranked Texas Longhorns. They need to win at least one of their remaining games to qualify for a bowl game.
A look at Sam Pittman's record at Arkansas
Sam Pittman took over as Arkansas' coach in Dec. 2019. At the time of writing, he has compiled a 28-29 record with the team.
In his first year, Pittman's Razorbacks finished with a 3-7 record in the cut-short COVID-19 pandemic season. The following year was his best with the program, leading Arkansas to a 9-4 overall record, including a win over win over Penn State in the Outback Bowl.
In the 2022 season, the Razorbacks posted a winning 7-6 season with a victory over Kansas in the Liberty Bowl. The 2023 season was a dismal run as Pittman's team finished with a 4-8 record, failing to reach a bowl game.
This season, Pittman's Razorbacks boast a 5-4 record after Week 10.
