Army QB injury update: Coach Jeff Monken shares latest news on Bryson Daily for Week 11 showdown

The No. 25-ranked Army Black Knights hope to have quarterback Bryson Daily available this week.

Daily missed last Saturday's 20-3 win against the Air Force Falcons due to an undisclosed injury.

Black Knights coach Jeff Monken shared an update on his status ahead of the team's Week 11 matchup against the North Texas Mean Green on Saturday.

GoBlackKnights.com reporter Charles Grevious asked Monken during a press conference on Nov. 5 about Daily's availability for Saturday's game. The Army (8-0, 6-0 American Athletic Conference) coach responded that Daily is making progress and hopes he'll be able to practice by the end of the week.

"His health is improving. We anticipate that before the end of the week, he's going to be able to practice, and that will allow us to determine his status for the game on Saturday. So, there is a chance, and so I'm optimistic because there is a chance, and we'll just see," Monken said.

Jeff Monken names DeWayne Coleman as backup quarterback for Saturday's game against North Texas

The Black Knights will have DeWayne Coleman as a backup option if Daily is not ready. Coleman was the starting quarterback for the team in last Saturday's win against Air Force (1-7, 0-4 Mountain West Conference).

In the game, Coleman completed five passes for 48 yards. Monken is confident that his backup quarterback can lead the team if Daily can't play.

"The good news is, obviously, we got another quarterback that has a start under his belt and has an important victory under his belt for us, and so, if it's DeWayne, then we'll play with DeWayne and if Bryson is healthy enough, then we'll play with Bryson," Monken explained.

Monken added that they won't be able to decide who will start until they see if Daily can practice this week. He also shared that Cale Hellums would be the next quarterback in line if Coleman and Daily were both unable to play against North Texas (5-3, 2-2).
