Ashton Jeanty drops 4-word reaction as Northwestern DB Devon Turner announces decision to enter the transfer portal

The No. 10 Boise State Broncos, led by running back Ashton Jeanty, ensured their spot in the Mountain West Conference championship game after beating the Oregon Beavers 34-18 in Week 14 on Saturday. The Broncos will face the No. 19 UNLV Rebels (No. 20 CFP) in the showpiece game which will likely be a shootout to clinch a place in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

Off the gridiron, the Heisman-contending Jeanty took time off from the rigors of the season to acknowledge Northwestern Wildcats safety Devin Turner's entry into the transfer portal by reposting his friend's farewell message on Wednesday on his Instagram stories.

Jeanty's girlfriend, Gabrielle Miller, also wished Turner well on the Instagram post announcing his entry into the transfer portal.

Gabriell Miller was a track star and an AAU All-American out of Lone Star High School under renowned coach Sean Coffey and is a collegiate track athlete. Last year, she qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics in the 4x100 meters.

Miller has supported Ashton Jeanty in his Heisman bid, posting his stats on her Instagram stories after the Broncos' 17-13 win over the Wyoming Cowboys in Week 13. She also wore a stylish jacket with "He12man" printed on the back to ramp up the campaign.

Ashton Jeanty has one more Heisman chance

Ashton Jeanty has had a sensational season, but it may fall just short of clinching him the Heisman Trophy despite being in the hunt to shatter former Oklahoma State Cowboys running back Barry Sander's 37-year record and win the Heisman in 1988.

According to BetMGM, Jeanty (+3,000) fell further behind main rival, Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter, who is priced at -10,000, to win the coveted trophy.

Despite the seemingly insurmountable odds, Jeanty has one more chance to change the public's mind against the UNLV Rebels in the MWC championship game.

During his weekly news conference, Broncos coach Spencer Danielson took a dig at Hunter's favorite tag for the Heisman and championed his own player instead.

“Ashton Jeanty is the best football player in the country,” Danielson said. “And for me, if you’re one of the best players in the country, you play in a championship game.”

The discourse pitting Ashton Jeanty against Travis Hunter for the prestigious Heisman Trophy is heating up with just a few days to go to the ceremony in New York, and the Boise State Broncos running back has one more chance to sway more votes to his cause.
