“Beginning of your new dominant chapter”: Kristen Saban proudly celebrates Nick Saban’s Icon Award

Nick Saban, former head coach of Alabama football, was honored with the Icon Award at the 2024 ESPYS. Former Alabama Heisman Trophy winners Mark Ingram and Bryce Young presented the award to their mentor.

Among the proudest in the audience was Saban's daughter, Kristen Saban, who has been a dedicated supporter of her father and the Crimson Tide for the past 17 years. Kristen celebrated the moment by uploading a series of photographs on Instagram, captioning the post:

"An ICONIC evening. Congratulations to my dad for receiving the Icon Award at last night’s ESPYS. Being able to be here with him to watch him take the stage was a dream. We are so proud of you, Sabes. This is just the beginning of your new dominant chapter. Roll Tide."

Taking the reins of Alabama’s football program in 2007, the 72-year-old legendary coach won six national championships (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020) for the Crimson Tide along with 11 SEC championships.

The former Alabama coach graciously accepted the Icon Award at the 2024 ESPYS, and true to his modest nature, he praised everyone involved in Alabama's success over the years. Saban refrained from taking all the credit for his legendary success in the college football world.

“We’ve always been blessed with having great individual athletes, but they’ve also been great people. And I think that’s what contributed to our success,” Saban said. “When you talk about iconic coaches, it’s all about how did you represent your team, how did your team represent you.”

Highlighting the collective effort behind Alabama's dominance, Saban believes that having athletes with great skills combined with the chiseling nature of coaches and the dedication of staff personnel to provide the players with all sorts of amenities has been the recipe for his monumental success at the Crimson Tide.
