The field will now be known as "Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium." Originally built in 1929 and named “Denny Field” after the school president, the stadium added coach Paul "Bear" Bryant's name in 1975. Now, Saban’s legacy stands tall alongside Bryant’s, with a statue of Saban already gracing the Walk of Champions.

Nick Saban retired in January after a 17-season run, winning six national championships and boasting a 108-9 home record. Though he has stepped off the field, Saban continues to shape the game as a college football analyst for ESPN.

Nick Saban feels privileged over latest Alabama honor

Alabama's grand tribute to honor former coach Nick Saban by naming its football playing field after him was announced on Friday, with the Alabama system board of trustees unanimously approving the resolution.

"We are humbled that The University of Alabama has honored us with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium," Saban said upon learning of the honor (via Roll Tide).
"The remarkable success that the football program has achieved over the past 17 years is a reflection of the hard work of many student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Being leader of the process at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life."

The dedication ceremony for "Saban Field" is set for September 7, coinciding with the South Florida game. Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne reiterated the former HC’s impact, saying (via WVTM):

"He is one of the greatest coaches of all time, impacting countless lives far beyond football."

UA President Stuart R. Bell added:

"Dedicating the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium as Saban Field is a fitting way to honor Coach Saban's extraordinary contributions to The University of Alabama."

The 72-year-old leaves a legacy that will now be forever celebrated on the field that bears his name.
