Big 12 power rankings Week 7: Iowa State emerges on top while Colorado stands firm at No. 5

The college football season is in full swing as the calendar approaches the halfway mark with teams entering Week 7. The Big 12 has been playing good football over the first six weeks of the season, as the 16 teams are a combined 54-32 overall and 33-11 in non-conference games.

Four Big 12 teams are ranked in the latest rendition of the AP Top 25 Poll, with each ranked between No. 11 and No. 18. Two additional programs were among the others receiving votes, giving the conference six teams that received recognition from voters.

The No. 11-ranked Iowa State Cyclones lead the way as they improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in conference play. The Colorado Buffaloes, who have been the Big 12's biggest story this season due to the presence of head coach Deion Sanders, two-way star Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, held steady after a Week 6 bye.

Of the Big 12's 16 teams, 10 faced a conference opponent, with five others having a bye week. With the expanded postseason field of 12 teams likely guaranteeing the conference at least one postseason seed — and potentially a first-round bye — take a look at the Big 12's power rankings after Week 6 below.
