Bill Belichick's girlfriend Jordon Hudson sends a 5-word message for his $50M moveĀ
Legendary coach Bill Belichick made headlines on Wednesday when he was officially announced as the coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the University of North Carolina to become a college football coach for the first time in his career.
Fans can imagine how excited Belichick is to get started with his new team, but they do not need to imagine the excitement that his girlfriend has. Belichick's girlfriend Jordon Hudson sent a five-word message to UNC after the signing was announced. She wrote on Instagram:
"We are onto Chapel Hill!!!"
That quote is in reference to Bill Belichick saying, "We're on to Cincinnati" repeatedly after a loss to Kansas City in 2014.
Belichick and the Patriots had lost its Week 4 matchup against the Chiefs and when asked to comment on the team's performance, he said, "We're on to Cincinnati." He said this in response to several questions.
The Patriots would go on to win the Super Bowl that season, their first in 10 years. This moment generated a lot of attention and was widely viewed as a turning point in the Patriots' season.
Bill Belichick starts his college football coaching career with UNC
Bill Belichick has had tremendous success in the NFL, winning six Super Bowls as a coach, and is widely viewed as the most successful head coach of all time. However, he never had the opportunity to prove himself at the college football level.
Shortly after graduating from university, Belichick took a job as an assistant coach of the Baltimore Colts in 1975. He would then spend 15 years as an assistant coach and coordinator with several teams before getting his first head coaching job.
Belichick was hired as a head coach for the first time in 1991 by the Cleveland Browns. He would have limited success with the Browns, only appearing in the playoffs once in 1994. He was fired after the 1995 season.
Bill Belichick would then spend a few more years as an assistant coach before getting his next head coaching opportunity. He was hired as the head coach of the New England Patriots in 2000 and would hold the position until 2023.
After departing from New England, he has taken a year off from coaching but is now ready to test himself at a different level. He will get the opportunity to coach his first college season next year with UNC.
