Akron scored on the game’s opening series and then forced a pair of Buffalo 3-and-outs. But after a Zips fumble, Buffalo needed just two plays to go 62 yards to tie the score in the middle of the first quarter. After another Akron fumble, a short field touchdown gave the Buffs the lead.

From there, Buffalo went on a continued run, stretching their edge to 38-7 late in the 3rd quarter. Quarterback C.J. Ogbonna threw two touchdown passes and added a third on the ground. A trio of late Akron TD passes made the game respectable, as the Zips pulled within 38-30, but could not finish the comeback.

Buffalo hosts Ball State next week in a game that could clinch bowl eligibility. Akron will travel to Northern Illinois next week.
