Cam Newton once confronted Warren Sapp over his "a**" comments
Cam Newton had a stellar 11-year NFL career after being selected first overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. The 2010 Heisman Trophy winner and national champion finished his career with 32,382 passing yards, 194 touchdowns, and 123 interceptions. Newton achieved 59.9% passing rate while adding 5,628 rushing yards and 75 touchdowns on 1,118 carries.
Newton was also named the 2015 NFL MVP in a season where he led the Carolina Panthers to an appearance in Super Bowl 50. The three-time Pro Bowler once confronted Warren Sapp as he labeled Newton a glorified running back following his comments. Speaking to the Pro Football Hall of Famer on his podcast, 4th&1, Newton stated:
"To your take where you said Cam Newton is just being an a**, Cam Newton was just a glorified running back, that's a subjective statement. And at the end of the day, you just said - not me, you just said - if I'm asking for a quarterback take, you're going to revert to the quarterback."

While the two debated the difference between a game manager and a game changer, Sapp ultimately agreed with Newton's definition. The Pro Football Hall of Famer concluded that the 2015 NFL MVP's comments were not meant from a place of disrespect and that he misunderstood the remark.
Deion Sanders once made Cam Newton blush during a pre-draft interview
Deion Sanders has garnered plenty of attention over the past half-decade due to his coaching career. Prior to becoming a head coach, the Pro and College Football Hall of Famer served as an analyst on NFL Network. Leading up to the 2011 NFL Draft, he sat down with reigning Heisman Trophy winner and national champion Cam Newton, stating:
"Heisman Trophy, national championship, could be the first pick of the draft - look at you smiling, man. I mean, which one has the most weight? Heisman, national championship, could be the first pick of the draft - you blushing like a baby. A big old 250 pound baby, man, you sitting up here blushing."
Newton responded by revealing the Heisman Trophy holds the most weight from an individual standpoint, claiming:
"The one that has the most weight, individually, it is the Heisman. I'll be sitting up here lying to you."
