"CFB fanbase has never seen a fanbase like Colorado": Coach Prime's son Deion Sanders Jr. claims Colorado fans outshine LSU’s legendary supporters
Deion Sanders has changed the face of college football, at least from a marketing standpoint. The Colorado Buffaloes went from a forgotten program to one of the most popular in the nation in just one season. The football program at Colorado has galvanized a unique fanbase, and this was a topic of discussion on the "2Legendary" podcast recently. The podcast is a new initiative by Buffs quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
In Episode 2, which Shedeur, Shilo, and Deion Sanders Jr. were hosting, Deion expressed the following at around the 45-minute mark:
“I think people like, the college football fanbase, has never seen a fanbase like Colorado. Don’t get me wrong, LSU, all these legendary teams have insane fanbases, they have 100,000 people at their games, but it’s a different type of people online riding with Colorado.
“Them boys be turnt up online. Anybody that says something about Colorado, them boys are like a full fledged attack. Like, on some real funny stuff. It’s pretty cool though. Like I always tell — the haters are only evident online. In person, these same people, it’s all love. ‘I want y’all to do good this year,’ they got a burner page on their phone, talking reckless.”
The task of Deion Sanders' Buffaloes in 2024 is turning all that hype into on-field performance, as last season was the third straight losing season for the Boulder school.
Deion Sanders' Colorado is everyone's Super Bowl according to Shedeur Sanders
During the same episode of the podcast, Shedeur Sanders expressed an opinion he already put forth during the Big 12 media days:
“(It’s) been that since day one, I remember (my) first media day when I was in HBCU, I said we won’t lose a game. I’m undefeated in the SWAC so I already know what the expectation comes with.
“I know we’re everybody’s Super Bowl so I really just stay level headed and grounded. I would never want to be that guy to look back and not (be) able to take advantage of the moment we have right now.”
Whether or not they are a tough enough opponent to be considered anyone's Super Bowl, the reality is that the Colorado Buffaloes brought in a level of national attention usually reserved for the Ohio States and Alabamas of the world. However, being undefeated at the FCS level is not the same as going undefeated in a Power Five conference.
