Coach Prime brushes off Paul Finebaum's "irrelevant" comments about Colorado with a befitting reply on ally Robert Griffin III's post
Colorado coach Deion Sanders, aka "Coach Prime," took the high road as he responded to analyst Paul Finebaum's recent criticism. The veteran college football reporter took shots at the Buffaloes and Sanders’ son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, calling them “irrelevant” in the college sports landscape.
However, the Buffaloes coach didn't mention Finebaum's name or acknowledge his hard take on the Buffs while expressing gratitude to former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who posted a long post on X supporting Sanders.
On Monday, Coach Prime wrote:
"God is good my brother & they mad mad! I sense a bit of anger & hostility. Lolololololol God bless @RGIII for always keeping it 💯."
Sanders has found an ally in Robert Griffin III, who defended Coach Prime and Colorado on X.
"I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism. Colorado is very relevant and broke TV viewership records last year," Griffin posted.
The former Washington Redskins quarterback pointed out the program's massive audience, even during a challenging season. His defense didn’t stop there. Griffin echoed Shedeur Sanders' opinion that every team viewed their matchup with Colorado as a "Super Bowl game."
"It wasn’t JUST ABOUT winning, they wanted to humiliate them and kill their confidence," RGIII posted.
He also highlighted the close nature of many of Colorado’s games last season, stressing that the Buffs weren't an "easy win" for most opponents.

Paul Finebaum isn't a fan of Coach Prime's Colorado
ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum isn't buying into the hype surrounding Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes. Despite the media frenzy at Big 12 Media Days, Finebaum believes the Buffs are far from playoff contenders.
"Anyone asking whether Deion Sanders and Colorado are close to the playoffs simply doesn’t understand the reality of the road,” Finebaum said on ESPN’s 'First Take.' “They’re not going to the playoffs this year, and I’m not sure Deion is ever going to get them to the playoffs."
Finebaum didn't stop there. He stressed that the buzz around Colorado is more about Coach Prime's charisma than the team’s relevance in college football.
"I know that the media loves this story," the analyst said. "We fall all over ourselves. But Colorado isn’t important in college football. Deion Sanders is. But Colorado is nothing. They don’t matter. They’re irrelevant in the big picture of college football."
This isn't the first time Finebaum has taken a shot at Sanders. On "McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning," he questioned Sanders' coaching credentials, calling him an "industry-created coaching celebrity."
