Coach Prime claps back at Ex-POTUS Barack Obama's comment against Colorado: "I really don’t get into politics"
Deion Sanders is never one to shy away from addressing criticism directly, and that was on display after Coach Prime's Colorado registered a 34-7 victory over Arizona.
During the post-game press conference, Sanders acknowledged his deep admiration for former President Barack Obama. However, he couldn’t resist addressing a recent playful comment from the former president, who said Colorado only had "a couple of good players." Sanders responded:
"President Obama is everything to me. I love him, I admire him, I respect him tremendously. President, I heard what you said, man… That's why I really don't get into politics, I'm into people. Because politicians, they play the political game and he was here and had to play the political game.
"We have two good players? We got more than two good players."
Referring to Obama's knowledge of recent games, Sanders said:
"He did his homework, or someone gave him great statistics, but President, c’mon man!”
Sanders has been keeping track of the remarks thrown his way throughout Colorado’s season. Whether it’s reporters, fans, or even high-profile public figures. Coach Prime has made it a point to respond head-on.
Coach Prime's Colorado will look to build on Arizona victory
The Buffs’ performance against Arizona backed up Sanders’ confidence. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado’s star quarterback, delivered a standout performance, passing for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver LaJohntay Wester also had a breakout game, hauling in eight catches for 127 yards. On the defensive side, Colorado held Arizona to a single touchdown in the first quarter.
With a win under their belt, Colorado looks to build some momentum. The victory was much-needed after a 31-28 defeat to Kansas State, and they will hope to have completely banished the ghosts of that disappointment. The Buffs head into Week 9, where they’ll host Cincinnati and there will, as always, be a lot of attention paid to how Coach Prime's team performs.
