Coach Prime sends a clear message to Shedeur Sanders & Co. as Colorado gears up for Alamo Bowl game
Coach Prime's Colorado will face Big 12 rivals, BYU, in the 2024 Alamo Bowl game on Dec. 28. The Buffs are now gearing up for their final game of the season, and Deion Sanders wants his players to guard against complacency.
In a YouTube video uploaded by Walk Off Media on Monday, Sanders warned his CU stars, including some with ambitions to play football professionally:
"We've had a heck of a season," Sanders said. "We've had a heck of a journey. But it ain't over yet. We still have one more chapter to close. And some of you that's connected around this circle have pro ambitions and dreams and aspirations."
Coach Prime also pointed out some of the significant achievements that his players accomplished this season, including Travis Hunter winning the Heisman Trophy. He outlined that Hunter won the prestigious award with the help of his CU teammates.
Hunter is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft along with Sanders' sons, Shilo and Shedeur.
Shedeur won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. The CU signal-caller finished the regular season with 3,926 passing yards, 35 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, and four rushing touchdowns.
Shedeur will lead the Buffs one last time in the team's upcoming Alamo Bowl game against BYU.
Coach Prime leads Colorado to first Bowl game since 2020
The Alamo Bowl will be Colorado's first bowl appearance since the 2020 season.
Colorado hired Sanders in December 2022, and in his first season, the team finished with a rather underwhelming 4-8 record. However, this season, Colorado (9-3, 7-2 Big 12) has been one of the most improved teams in the country.
The Buffs have not won a bowl game in 20 years. Their last win was in the 2004 Houston Bowl when they beat UTEP 33-28.
