Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders reveals Heisman Trophy winner who inspires his playing style: “He had a lot of will”

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders announced the launch of his podcast in collaboration with Overtime on Instagram. Coach Prime's son will talk to guests on the "2Legendary With Shedeur Sanders" show and ask fun and hard-hitting questions. The first episode featured Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward and Virginia Tech's Kyron Drones.

One of the questions that was asked to Ward and Sanders was which former college and current NFL player they model their game after. Ward said that he likes to replicate Patrick Mahomes and Jordan Love while playing against his opponents and Shedeur said that the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner, Lamar Jackson, was his model QB to replicate.

"I see him scrambling sidelines," Sanders said. "I'm in the stands North Texas gang, the North Texas game out there. Everything he can, a lot of will, so they say you model your game after your coach and he had a lot of will." [23:27].

NFL executive and a scout shares thoughts on drafting Shedeur Sanders

Deion Sanders has been Shedeur's coach throughout his life and is expected to continue playing a pivotal role in his son's career even after Shedeur's time at Colorado.

When the quarterback is potentially picked in the 2025 NFL draft, NFL teams will learn that they are selecting not only Shedeur but also the Sanders family.

"Deion has been the kid's coach all of his life. Everyone knows that he's running that show, and that's not going to change moving forward," said an NFC executive per ESPN's Jordan Reid.
"You're not only drafting Shedeur, you're drafting the family as well, and there will be varying opinions about that," an NFC scout said via SI.

Deion Sanders has expressed concerns about certain teams drafting his son, indicating he has specific preferences for Shedeur Sanders' future NFL destination.

Coach Prime's involvement in his son's career will be a factor that NFL teams will consider as they evaluate his potential at the next level.
