Colorado's athletic director drops 3-word reaction to Coach Prime confirming Shedeur & Co.'s involvement in CU's bowl game

Colorado coach Deion Sanders isn’t letting the common practice of key players who are NFL-bound sit-out bowl games impact the Buffaloes. He’s looking forward to coaching his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, for the final time when Colorado faces BYU in the 2024 Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.

The Colorado coach confirmed that Shedeur, Shilo, and Heisman hopeful Travis Hunter will take the field against BYU.

"We have a plethora of seniors that are pro bound and guess what, every single one of them is going to play. We don't tap out. We don't sit out," Sanders declared.
“We’ve got a kid that’s going to pick up the Heisman trophy this week, and he is going to play. We’ve got a quarterback who picked up an award last weekend, and he is going to play,” the Buffs HC added.

The message wasn’t lost on Colorado’s athletic director, Rick George, who tweeted a heartfelt response.

“That’s my guy!”

For Sanders, the game holds personal meaning. Coaching his sons from youth leagues to college, this final outing marks the end of an era.

“This is gonna be our last game,” Sanders shared during the Alamo Bowl announcement. “We started right here in Texas. And now it ends here. It’s gonna be tough for me,” Sanders admitted. “I don’t want to think about the end.”

The Alamo Bowl isn’t just a game for "Coach Prime"; it’s the culmination and celebration of a journey defined by perseverance, family, and a love for football.

Colorado will face BYU in Alamo Bowl

The 57-year-old Sanders and Colorado are preparing for a highly anticipated showdown against BYU in the 2024 Alamo Bowl. Both teams bring impressive resumes, with BYU holding a 10-2 record and Colorado close behind at 9-3.

Sanders has transformed Colorado in his second year. This is the team’s first nine-win season in over two decades. Adding to the occasion, the Buffs coach is fulfilling a promise to Colorado’s 100-year-old superfan Peggy Coppom, flying her to San Antonio for the game.

“Last season was about hope. This season was about expectation, and the expectation this year was to get Ms. Peggy to a bowl game, and we did that. The Alamo bowl is the perfect home for not only our players, but for our amazing fan base and most importantly Ms. Peggy. San Antonio, We Coming, baby,” Sanders stated.

BYU, under Kalani Sitake, is no slouch. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff has delivered 2,796 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, while the defense leads the nation with 20 interceptions.

Both teams are stacked with talent and the Alamo Bowl seems to be shaping up as an unforgettable clash.
