Lane Kiffin’s dad served as the Bucs' defensive coordinator from 1996 to 2008, a vital cog in creating the team's defensive dominance. Monte was at the Bucs for 13 seasons and in those years, Tampa Bay's defense leaked the fewest points per game (17.5).
The Buccaneers also ranked second in yards allowed per game (286.8) and total takeaways (293). His implementation of the Cover Two scheme, now famously known as the 'Tampa Two' is still followed by NFL defenses.
