Deion Sanders drops blunt statement on future at Colorado after sons Shedeur and Shilo migrate to NFL: "I'm not crazy"
Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders arrived in Las Vegas for day three of the Big 12 media days with flair. He came aboard a sleek private jet and made a noticeable entrance into the Allegiant Stadium with a catchy rap performance.
Alongside him were his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, who are expected to depart for the 2025 NFL Draft after the upcoming college football season.
During the interaction with the media, Coach Prime was asked what he envisioned for Colorado after his sons depart for the NFL next year. He had an interesting answer.
"I think more thoughtful. Understanding what I need and what I got to have. I'm not crazy, I'm looking for Shedeur right now," Deion Sanders said.
During a recent interview with analyst Joel Klatt on Big Noon Conversations, Sanders addressed the issues of following his sons to the NFL. This is something that has been speculated for a long time, reaffirming his commitment to Colorado.
"I tell them the truth," Sanders said. "I tell them I'm a father, not a baby daddy. I don't follow my kids. I pave roads for my kids. I build generational wealth for my kids. I lead my kids. I don't follow my kids. So I do not plan on following my kids to the NFL. I have work to do here.
"I absolutely love it here, and I would never think a young brother from the South would really love it in this part of the country, but I really do," Sanders said."... The fan base that we have here ... I just want to really bless you with a tremendously successful team. I really do. That's my heart."
Deion Sanders might have found the next Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders is simply one of the best quarterbacks in college football, having thrown for 3,270 yards, resulting in 27 touchdowns last season. He took the FBS by storm, leading the Deion Sanders revolution in Boulder.
He is tabbed by ESPN to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft in 2025 and will be immensely difficult to replace. There is hope for Coach Prime though with the recent visit to Boulder by the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2025, Julian Lewis, going well.
Lewis also indicated that he was interested in the Deion Sanders project in Colorado despite the fact that he has been committed to the USC Trojans for almost a year.
The five-star quarterback prospect even took a picture after the visit in Colorado-branded gear. He posted a symbolic picture of himself receiving keys from Shedeur Sanders. Coach Prime might just have found his man already.
