Deion Sanders Jr. drops 2-word reaction as Cormani McClain gets his much-awaited moment
Former five-star cornerback Cormani McClain was a freshman for the Colorado Buffaloes last season. After one season in Colorado, he transferred to the Florida Gators in the offseason.
On Saturday, McClain got his first start with the Gators this season against the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. Deion Sanders Jr. reacted to McClain's first start with a two-word message on X.
"Turn up," Sanders tweeted.
Cormani McClain has been playing well in limited action this season. According to Pro Football Focus, he has a 72.8 defensive grade. The opposing quarterback is 3-of-8 when targeting his assignment while adding an interception and a pass breakup.
Why did Cormani McClain leave the Colorado Buffaloes?
Cormani McClain entered the transfer portal in April. He commented on the Colorado Buffaloes program and mentioned how he wanted to be part of a "real program" and that his grades were good instead of playing for clicks.
This was something that the Buffs were criticized for in the 2023 season as people began to believe there were issues regarding the legitimacy of the program.
"I'm just ready to bring the old version of me out and change the narrative of everyone's thinking on my name, be a part of a real and great program that's going to impact me at my best ability," McClain said in April.
Deion Sanders spoke prior to the start of the season regarding McClain's decision to leave the Buffaloes and wished him well.
"I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him, as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man, Sanders said (h/t Sports Illustrated). "Unfortunately, we weren't the program that could accomplish that. ... He has a tremendous amount of talent, but he has to want it."
It will be intriguing to see if Cormani McClain can live up to the hype he had coming out of high school.
