Deion Sanders Jr. gives words of encouragement to brother Shilo after Coach Prime's "horrible" assessment
The Week 8 game for the Colorado Buffaloes didn't go as planned as they lost to No. 17 Kansas State 28–31, breaking their incredible three-game winning streak.
Although Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is hopeful that Colorado will bounce back in the next games, he expressed dissatisfaction with his son Shilo's performance in the Saturday night game. He called it "horrible" in his press conference after the game.
However, Shilo's older brother, Deion Sanders Jr., came to his defense, sharing a thoughtful post on Instagram with the caption:
"It’s nothing to turn a non believer into a believer."
In the post, Bucky is wearing Shilo's No. 21 Colorado Buffaloes jersey. The post also had some game-time pictures, including Shilo and their father, Deion Sanders.
Similarly, Deion Jr. showed his support for Shilo in a post on X (formerly Twitter), tweeting:
"The rejected will be respected. It’s nothing to turn a non believer into a believer. 'I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.' John 14:29."
Coach Prime was upset about Shilo's first game after his return from a forearm injury that caused him to miss three games. While Shilo finished the game with seven tackles, he missed several key ones, which angered his father. Deion said:
"I thought he played horrible. I thought he was rusty, he didn't have his footing. I thought he wasn't breaking down, he was coming up trying to make the play but open field, one-on-one tackling with that kind of back, that ain't an easy task. But he's going to do better, I know what he has in him," Prime Time said.
It wasn’t just Shilo's performance that hurt, as the entire Colorado Buffaloes defense struggled. Thus, Kansas State racked up 426 yards of total offense, including 188 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Colorado Buffaloes Offense Stumble in Kansas State Clash as Injuries Pile Up
On the other hand, the Colorado Buffaloes' offense got off to a slow start with just seven points in the first half. However, the team bounced back with 21 points in the second half but fell short by just three.
While Shilo struggled with his performance, his younger brother, the star QB of the Buffaloes, shone. He completed 34 of 40 passes for 388 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
This loss serves as a wake-up call for the Buffaloes, struggling with injuries. In the game against Kansas State, their two-way star Travis Hunter left the field with a shoulder injury.
Additionally, wideouts Omarion Miller and Jimmy Horn Jr. also had injuries. All three are questionable for their upcoming game against the Arizona Wildcats this week.
