Deion Sanders pays classy tribute to Chiefs HC Andy Reid as coaching royalties meet before Kansas-Colorado clash
Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders met up with Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday, a day before the Buffs' clash against the Kansas Jayhawks. "Coach Prime" uploaded a picture of his meet-up with Reid on Instagram and described the Kansas City coach as one of his idols.
"1 of my Heroes, Pure Class, ANDY REID!!!! Enough Said. @chiefs @nfl @cubuffsfootball @overlandsheepskin Coat," Sanders wrote.
Sanders also praised Reid while speaking to reporters on Friday.
"One person that you wouldn’t think I correspond with, but who’s really good to me, is Andy Reid," Sanders said. Their friendship dates back to their NFL days in the 1990s, when Sanders was a superstar defensive back and Reid was making his mark as the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers."
Reid is a three-time Super Bowl-winning coach with the Chiefs. He also won the Super Bowl as an assistant coach with the Green Bay Packers. This season, Reid's Chiefs are leading the AFC with a 9-1 record, aiming to achieve a historic three-peat of Super Bowl wins.
Since Kansas' David Booth Memorial home stadium is undergoing renovation, the Jayhawks have played most of their 2024 season home games at the Chiefs' home, Arrowhead Stadium. Saturday's matchup between Kansas and Colorado will take place at the same venue.
Deion Sanders' Colorado will need to beat Kansas in Week 13 to remain in contention for College Football Playoff
No.16 Colorado (8-2, 6-1 Big 12) has an excellent chance of making the College Football Playoff this season. However, the Buffaloes will need to win their two regular season games to remain in contention for a playoff berth.
The Buffs are the favorites to beat Kansas (4-6, 3-4 Big 12) on Saturday. They will then play Oklahoma State in their final regular season match on Nov. 29.
The Buffaloes' chances of reaching the playoffs are also boosted by having two Heisman contenders, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter.
