Deion Sanders stands up for Colorado star Travis Hunter as Chad Ochocinco teases 8-toed Coach Prime

On Sunday’s 'Night Cap' show, Deion Sanders defended Colorado star Travis Hunter while being teased by Chad Ochocinco playfully for his 'eight-toed' nickname.

Hosts Shannon Sharpe, Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson and Coach Prime discussed whether Hunter, a standout two-way player for Colorado, should focus on receiver or defensive back in the NFL. They also recapped the Buffaloes' dominant 48-21 win over UCF.

During the chat, the topic of coaching and mentoring came up. Ochocinco, always quick with a quip, boasted:

“I'll come out there, route Travis a*s up, and then I'll lock him up,” Chad Ochocinco said.

Prime Time set himself up for more teasing as the conversation shifted to Hunter.

“What if I get mad that you routed Travis up and I put my cleats on?” Sanders said.

Ochocinco’s unexpected response compelled Sanders to cut the live video calling promptly:

"You can’t do nothing with eight toes!"

Sanders, who had two toes amputated in 2022 due to blood clots, still walks with a limp. While he remains active, his running days are behind him.

Yet, even with the playful ribbing, Coach Prime is focused on his team’s hot 4-1 start. With Travis Hunter emerging as a top Heisman candidate, the Buffaloes are very much in the spotlight.

Deion Sanders’ take on which side of the ball Travis Hunter is better on?

Deion Sanders has finally weighed in on which side of the ball Travis Hunter shines brighter on. Hunter, the two-way star, has racked up 561 receiving yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions, quickly becoming a Heisman Trophy frontrunner this season.

On the podcast, when Sanders joined Chad Ochocinco and Shannon Sharpe on the 'Nightcap' episode, they debated Hunter’s future. He is projected as a high first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Sanders' take?

"You've got to allow him to be who he is," he said. "Imagine if I was selfish and just was traditional and just played him on one side of the ball, we wouldn't see half of the plays that we've been blessed with seeing as a collegiate football player.
“I would have robbed him of that greatness that he has," he added.

Up next, the Buffaloes face their toughest challenge yet, hosting No. 20 Kansas State on Oct. 12 after a much-needed bye week.
