Deontae Lawson injury update: What happened to Alabama LB?

Alabama linebacker and team captain Deontae Lawson suffered a setback during the second quarter of the Crimson Tide's clash against Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. The game took a concerning turn when Lawson attempted a tackle on Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold.

After bringing Arnold down, Lawson struggled to get back on his feet, signaling trouble as the medical staff stepped in, helping Lawson to the sidelines.

He was taken to the medical tent for an evaluation, spending 12 tense minutes inside while Alabama's training staff, including head trainer Jeff Allen, discussed his condition with head coach Kalen DeBoer. Malachi Moore also stopped by the tent to check Lawson.

Ultimately, he was escorted to the locker room and several reporters confirmed the severity of his lower leg injury.

SI football beat writer Hunter De Siver reported on Lawson's injury saying,

"Alabama co-captain and LB Deontae Lawson goes down with an injury after tackling Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold. Looked like a right lower leg injury. He walked off the field with multiple trainers assisting him"

Next Round Live host Jim Dunaway tweeted,

"Yes. Or as I call it. Tradition. But…Alabama is in trouble, and Lawson's injury looked bad"

Managing editor for Tide Illustrated Tony Tsoukalas reported,

"Deontae Lawson is down for Alabama. It looks to be a lower-body injury."

LB Justin Jefferson replaced Lawson on defense as the Crimson Tide adjusted to his absence. Lawson, known for his green-dot helmet that allows direct communication with the defensive coordinator, entered the game with impressive stats, including 74 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Lawson is reportedly out for the rest of the game, leaving Alabama with a leadership void on the field as they await further updates on his condition.
