"Don't ever disrespect us again": Colorado star sends stern message to haters after Deion Sanders' team make history

Deion Sanders has led the Colorado Buffaloes (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) to a bowl-eligible season in just his second year in charge. This is a remarkable accomplishment for a team that finished 1-11 just two years prior. The Buffaloes secured their sixth win in a 34-23 home victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Afterwards, safety Carter Stoutmire had words for the doubters. With four games left, Colorado is 6-2 and remains in the hunt for the Big 12 title.

“Don’t ever disrespect us again. We came out here, we don't listen to the critics. We just play ball and do what we do. We ain't just winning 6, we winning 10. We going bowling,” added the Texan player.

For the Buffaloes, it’s a new era of pride. The Buffs are still in the game due to performances from Sanders' son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and two-way sensation Travis Hunter.

On the field, Shedeur completed 25 of 30 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns, both snagged by Hunter, who racked up 153 receiving yards.

Cincinnati made it a tense showdown late in the game, closing in to within eight points. But Colorado’s defense held strong, and a 47-yard field goal sealed the victory in front of a roaring Folsom Field crowd.

Deion Sanders sends strong message from Boulder

Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes have made history after 17 years. It’s a shining moment for a team that’s made a rapid turnaround under Coach Prime after ending the last season with a 4-8 record.

Despite these successes, Colorado hasn’t cracked the AP Top 25, and after Week 7, they even stopped receiving poll votes.

Sanders, however, isn’t looking for outside validation. After the game, he sent a message to AP voters, expressing a preference for flying under the radar.

"We don’t even want to be ranked. Don’t rank us, please … We’d rather be at the back, in the dark, just chilling in the cut. We good, we cool, we straight," he said.

The Buffaloes’ two losses, first against the Nebraska Cornhuskers and then Kansas State Wildcats, are still shaping perceptions.

For now, Deion is focused on taking it “one game at a time,” letting his team’s actions speak louder than any polls. Players like Stoutmire are confident in their leaders, Shedeur and Travis, to end the season with grace.
