Donald Trump to attend Week 5 SEC blockbuster between Alabama and Georgia in Tuscaloosa: Report

This November, the U.S. will elect its 47th president. One of the nominees for the post, Donald Trump, will be in attendance for the high-voltage SEC clash between the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide at "Saban Field," on Sept. 28, as per Mark Halperin.

Trump is contesting against U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden pulled out his name from re-contention. Trump's presence at the game will help him connect with America's youth, who loves sports, especially football.

This won't be the first time America's 45th President attends a college football game. In the 2017 BCS National Championship game between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide, Donald Trump made his presence felt. Alabama won that game 26-23 in overtime.

Though Georgia has been one of the dominant teams in college football, their recent matchups with Alabama haven't gone down well. The Bulldogs have won only one game in the past nine encounters. However, this time around, Kirby Smart won't have to face legendary coach Nick Saban at the sidelines, as Kalen DeBoer has replaced Saban as Alabama's coach.

ALGOP Chairman expresses concerns after Donald Trump considers being in Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama in action

The incumbent chair of the Alabama Republican Party since 2021, ALGOP Chairman John Wahl, said he's not sure about Donald Trump's presence after Sunday's apparent assassination attempt on the former president at a golf course in Florida. The development has left things uncertain.

“I can confirm this is something Donald Trump has been thinking about, and I think this is something he would like to do. There’s just so many logistics, especially with securing a venue with a stadium that holds tens of thousands of people, can security be where it needs to be,” Wahl told WBRC.

If Donald Trump indeed attends the game, retired Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said fans should be ready for longer wait times and enhanced security in the wake of a second assassination attempt in just two months.

The Bryant-Denny Stadium will host the game, with kick-off scheduled in Tuscaloosa at 6:30 p.m local or 7:30 p.m EDT.
