Drake Maye's girlfriend shares special snap of new Patriots QB as he visits Gillette Stadium

Former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye was selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He was the third QB picked after Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

His girlfriend Ann Michael Hudson, whom he has dated throughout his college career, shared a special picture on her Instagram stories of the QB smiling in his new home, the Gillette Stadium.

Hudson obtained a bachelor of business administration in finance from North Carolina and was part of the UNC Beta Chi sorority. She started dating Maye while they were in high school.

Drake Maye is already dividing opinion

Leading up to the draft, Drake Maye was in the conversation for the best quarterback in the class of 2024 alongside No. 1 pick Caleb Williams and No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels.

The New England Patriots ended up declining trade offers for their No. 3 pick and selecting the former North Carolina QB.

On ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular," former Patriots coach Bill Belichick raised concerns over the selection of Maye.

"He hasn't played very much. He really doesn't have a lot of experience. He's going to need some work in reading defenses, reading coverages," said Belichick. "He's kind of quick to bail out of the pocket. He's going to need to hang in there a little bit longer and find those receivers.
"Drake compares himself a lot to Josh Allen -- we'll see about that," said Belichick. "There are some similarities in terms of size, but Josh Allen is a special player."

First-year Patriots coach Jerod Mayo was happy picking Drake Maye over other quarterbacks like Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy.

"I wouldn't say [the potential floor] scared us," Mayo said. "Everyone was focusing on the ceiling, and obviously Drake has a high ceiling. But the floor is -- if everything goes wrong, which we don't anticipate to happen -- what does that look like? We were very comfortable as we continued to go through the process. We watched years of this guy playing football and feel good about the pick."
